GearZap’s iPad KeyCase has been in the market for a while, but many may not have heard about it. It is a convenient combination of a folio case and a Bluetooth connected keyboard. The folio is made from sturdy black leatherette with a dual-magnet clasp and a fitted slot for the iPad. The case also features cutouts for the power button, headphones, volume control, home button, microphone slot and dock connector. There are also holes at the bottom of the case so as not to hinder the functioning of the iPad speaker.
The keyboard offers the user a mix of specialized iPad buttons like volume control, pause-play and search. It also has a few of the keys normally found on iPad. It features a keyboard button which allows the user to either hide or display the on-screen keyboard.
To pair the keyboard and iPad, the user is required to select the Connect button and then choose the Keyboard option on the Bluetooth menu of the iPad. Once the passcode has been verified, the keyboard is ready to be used. Once the pairing has been completed, all the user has to do is turn on the KeyCase and it will automatically reconnect to the device.
The KeyCase’s battery life is 100 days on standby mode and 90 hours if used continuously. The case can be charged using a microUSB. The KeyCase is approximately 9.75 inches high, 8 inches wide and 1.25 inches thick. This puts it on par with the average netbook, making it extremely portable and sturdy.
The case’s dual functions as folio and a keyboard makes it a practical and sophisticated accessory for the iPad.
