Viewsonic has just churned out a nice iPad alternative in the market. The new model is called ViewPad 116i S2 and it carries a 11.6 inch display. Unlike companies’ recent tablets, this new tablet runs Windows 8 operating system, which is designed for doing actual work on the go.
However, unlike iPad, the ViewPad 116i is pretty bulky. It weighs 1 kilogram and measures 13.5 mm thick.
The specifications of ViewPad 116i S2 are pretty amazing though. You get Intel Celeron 1037U dual-core processor (Ivy Bridge), 4GB of RAM and a 64GB SSD drive. There is also a camera 2 megapixel rear camera and a front 0.3 megapixel webcam which is ideal for video chat on Skype.
According to its specs’ sheet, the battery of ViewPad has massive 6000 mAh capacity that provides sufficient runtimes of about 5-6 hours. The price of ViewPad 116i S2 is $653, we don’t know if that includes a keyboard dock like the Asus Transformer series.
